MusicWelcome back to Lynn Swanson, our Music Specialist! Lynn has returned to school from her maternity leave and we are so happy she is back.

 

A special thank you goes to Mary Lou Hunt. Ms. Hunt served as an excellent substitute while Lynn was out.

Parent/Teacher Conferences - March 3 & 4

All GHA teachers will host parent-teacher conferences Thursday and Friday. This is a great time to connect with your child's teacher, get a report card and find out how your child is progressing this year.

 

There is no school on either of these days.

Chess Club Begins March 18 - Register Today

Chess Chess Club for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will begin on Friday, March 18th in the 5th grade classroom with instructors from Chess4Life.

White Christmas Lights & Extension Cords Needed

White LightsDo you have a string of white Christmas lights or an extension cord you could lend to the Auction committee for decorations?

 

If so, please drop them off at the front office before March 18th. Be sure to write your name on them so we can return your belongings after the auction.

Let The Bidding Begin!

Are you planning a landscaping project this spring or summer? Due to a very generous donation to the "Once Upon A Time" auction, you're in luck! LIVE TREES! Douglas fir, Cedar, and Flowering trees to fill that barren backyard.  

 

  • 2 - 6' to 8' Douglas Fir
  • 2 - 6' to 8' Cedar
  • 7 - 1' Flowering Trees
  • 25 - 4' to 5' Douglas Fir 

Interested? See Samples of the trees displayed by the P.E. Shed going out to the back playground and then contact Niki in the office.

Class Spotlight
Dr. Seuss-a-palooza!!

GHA students celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday on Wednesday, March 3, with fun reading, craft and buddy activities based on Seuss' books.

Dr. Seuss Day Activities included:

Creating Cat in the Hat hats

Decorating cupcakes like Thing 1 & Thing 2 

Painting tooth pictures with a toothbrush

Crazy sock contest 

Butterfly snacks and craft

Fish collages based on One Fish, Two Fish

Crazy Socks

The kids also previewed auction items and came home with a wish list. Ask your kids what their favorite items were.

 

A huge thank you to Marci Hardy for planning this entire event! Additional thank you's go out to all who helped with the preparations ahead of time and to the parent volunteers and teachers that were present to help the day of the event. Without all of you, this Seusstravaganza would not have been possible.

First grade students were engaged and excited to see Queen Mutnodjmet, Nefertiti's sister, when she visited their classroom for their Ancient Egypt unit; bringing history to life!

Third Grade Pottery on Display

After a few weeks of firing in the kiln at the Open Arts Studio, the third grade students' art pieces are on display in the hallway near their classroom. The students used their Egyptian unit as inspiration for their pieces.

GHA is the place to be this summer! Sports, Archeology, Robotics, Space, Art Classes and MUCH more! Ages Preschool through 5th grade are welcome to join us for part or full day camp experiences. Here's just a sampling of what's to come:
Stop by Mr. Funk's 5th grade class to see what his Summer Wood Shop camp will produce - log cabins! Build, assemble and personalize your very own log cabin, something to treasure for years to come.
